Description
The Fairbanks Gold Dust Washing Powder Company is very collectible.
This is a VERY RARE Paperboard Container from the 1920s.
How this paperboard container has made it this far is unknown! Found at an estate sale of eclectic collectors.
18" long x 13"w x 12"h laying on its side.
Several other advertisers are on this box.
A W Pickett Company who were wholesale grocers out of Torrington, Connecticut around the 1920's is the printed recipient of this shipping box.  Very little can be found on the AW Picket Company - it was listed in the New England Business Directory of 1922.
Chicago Mill and Lumber Company out of Chicago, Illinois produced this box for Fairbanks.
Chicago Mill & Lumber Co first opened their doors in 1881 then as a merged company in 1903.
History of the paperboard containers started back in 1912 when Walter Paepcke designed prepacked paperboard containers as consumers moved away from wood boxes.
The Chicago Mill and Lumber Company has a rich box history and compliments the Fairbanks Gold Dust Washing Powder.

Condition
Used, with one side of the box opened up. The top side is still factory glued closed. Original steel stapled side.  Advertising is clean.
All flaps are intact, aged paperboard with areas damaged as photos show.
The box has aged and there are areas of old tears and bends but all the original flaps are intact.  The pictures tell the story.
