    Description

A really nice English Victorian "miser's" snuff box, with Masonic imagery engraved into the top, as well as a name - John Douglas - and date, 1865.
The snuff box is referred to as a "miser's" snuff box, as it has a rotating lid with a small opening that only allows two pinching fingers to reach into the box...therefore a "miser" wouldn't let his friends take too much of his snuff. This miser's lid has a Mason's handshake engraved into it. The silver plated lid also has cornucopias and the numbers of a clock around the perimeter. There are bass rivets holding the lid in place. The box itself is made of wood, with a horn bottom.
In excellent condition overall, with just a bit of discoloration/wear to the silver plate and one small crack in the wood.
    Measures: 2 3/4" in diameter.
